Fat Burning & Blister Popping

I am waging a constant battle with my body fat.  Up, down, up, down.  My little spreadsheet graph looks like the Pennine Way with all the peaks and troughs.  It only ever varies minutely, but what can I do to reduce it?

Well stop eating rubbish for starters...which I have done (mostly).  I eat more oats to fill me up in a morning, eat more chicken & fish, fat free yogurts, nuts n dried fruit to nibble on plus a whole load of other stuff.  So what is the problem?  Chocolate!  I am addicted to it and I know it.  Hi my name is Graham and I’m a chocoholic.

But it’s not just the food it’s the cardio too I suspect.  I love swimming but with a hectic schedule at work I have been reducing the amount of lengths I do which is naughty.  I am doing some boxing at the weekend...about 30 mins or so which is funny and healthy.  Plus in an effort to mix it up a little, I am taking a break from BodyBalance and doing some circuit training (running, light weights, buckets full of sweat and bad language).

It was actually my first session this week and you can always tell the first timers.  We stand around looking lost, keeping an eye out for the instructor and smiling but not making eye contact with those people in sweat bands circa 1980 ‘Fame’ style.  Then we scuttle over and speak to the ultra-fit instructor, explain it’s our first time and are gently guided to where we should be with the promise that we will be able to keep up and if we can’t, don’t worry.

Balls!  If we can’t keep up we are glared at by the rest of the class as though we shouldn’t have dared set foot in the room.  Give me a break people, everyone started this way at some time.   Actually that only happened with BodyBalance and trust me I can glare back at people a damn sight better than they can.  They never did it again.  With the circuit training, it was a laugh with the other people there and as much hard work as it was, I did really enjoy it.

So will I go back?  Well not this coming Monday as it’s my birthday and there is no way I am punishing myself like that on my birthday!  But the week after…for sure.  I just hope this time I don’t get another blister.  It was fun to pop though.

Graham.

Blister Popping

I didn't know you shouldn't pop a blister. It's been that long since I had one I actually enjoyed the fact I was exercising so hard that i got one hahah.

I bought some better running trainers rather than just normal pumps and they feel great.

I am getting ready to start

I am getting ready to start my journey to healthier habits. I've been a couch potato for some time now and I want to try my best to get back into shape.

Have you ever noticed the bad

Have you ever noticed the bad taste in your mouth that means you are burning fat? I have always aimed for that goal but I'm not sure it is wise to do so. However, I join you on your "first timer" woes at the gym.

Sounds like fun-NOT! Sigh-I

Sounds like fun-NOT! Sigh-I guess we all have to start somewhere though!

Oh by the way, you really shouldn't pop a blister, it's nature's way of healing the skin underneath and building up a callous!

Ouch, I hate popping

Ouch, I hate popping blisters. You could try next time to put some moleskin or zinc oxide tape on the area before you work out, as it used to stop blisters when I was hiking regularly.
