Tom's blog

Back into it

I haven't blogged for a while so thought i really should. University has finished, i'm now 21 and i have just picked up my first proper project as a video editor so a fair bit has changed since the last time i wrote my blog. Fitness wise, i'm now playing in a 5 a side team that consists of my 3 younger brothers, my Dad and cousin so that will keep me fit during the summer months along with surfing and running.

Lack of focus

So i'm guessing that this is really common with people who exercise. I think its called the wall or maybe just a complete lack of focus or motivation but whatever it is, it's really difficult to get back into the habit of exercising again. The football season ended and although i feel that i should continue to run and keep up with my ibodz program, it's just not happening.

Time for a new workout program?

So, i'm sitting here watching the Aussies battle away against England, even though they don't really have a chance in the cricket and for some reason its triggered off my lack of blogging over the past few weeks. Although i haven't been blogging, my workout is still well on track and has almost got to the point that it is getting rather easy and i'm continuously changing it up. The press ups still hurt and the shoulder presses are always difficult but i can see a difference particularly when playing football.

On track

I feel as though the past week has gone quite well considering my university schedule has gone through the roof and that my groin has decided that it will not heal. In fact i've actually been worried all week that i've got a hernia and not a groin strain but thankfully i found out yesterday that it is just a strain which is a relief. I actually think i managed to strain the groin whilst doing one of my workouts involving jumping squats, hence to say i didn't include them in my schedule this week.

Fitting everything in

So i feel that i'm back on track with my program after 4 workouts in the space of a week. I've cut down the time of my workout though and it is taking about 40 minutes, most likely because i'm not waiting for the 90 secs between each exercise. The squat jump has become my arch nemesis in this workout and sadly enough i'm finding it difficult to do them, even felt my knee jar a bit whilst doing it today, so maybe my technique is a little bit off. The rest of the workout is pretty good and i've already increased the amount of sit ups i do and reps on the barbell.

New site, new start

Well the new way to access my blog has taken an eternity for me to find but luckily that hasn't affected my exercise in any part. I'm in the middle of my footy season and my team are 2nd in the league and have only been beaten once in eleven games which is good going although i'm beginning to nurse a fair few injuries and am contemplating whether i'll have the time to stay as commited to the team next year.

Injury, rain and end of semester

I've been a bit slack regarding my blog recently as I have hardly been able to exercise since straining my groin in a football match. Its feeling better now though and I got through my first training session yesterday and will now press on with my ibodz training plan again. The new session I started on was going good and I got three full sessions in before my groin strained and well since then I haven't done any.

About to start my new exercise program

So thanks to Oliver I now have a new routine that I have been waiting to try out. I've looked at it a few times but still haven't brought myself round to trying it as I’m in the middle of moving house, Uni assignments as well as playing football so other exercise has just gone out of the window over the past week although it should change now that I have a couple of weeks without assignments from Uni.

Need to add sleep to my exercise program

After another week or so without blogging I thought I better write something as my program has got back on schedule and I’m feeling fitter than I think I ever have. Although today I am suffering a bit from staying up until 4am to watch the mighty Everton beat Man Utd in the F.A Cup semi final. My house was packed full of Evertonians so was awesome even if I did have to be up at 9am the next day so what with the adrenaline running through my body, I only got about 3 or 4 hrs sleep.

One day left

Of course I’m not actually talking about my workout regime, although that would be nice at the moment with my body feeling exhausted. I actually only have 1 day left of uni until I have a break for a week, which is really needed and also means that I will have some time on my hands.
