Children Joining in

I've heard a lot of people state that children shouldn't do gym type exercise, that team sports-low load bearing activity that is good cardio is best. What age can a child join a gym safely?

The latest research fully

The latest research fully supports the incorporation of weight and resistance training in any healthy living plan for children of all ages. I'm not suggesting that we start loading the squat rack and forcing kids to lift heavy but the earlier we can start introducing weight training and healthy concepts to children, the better. Some short, light weight sessions will be ideal.

Unfortunately, most people aren't willing to realise that for the past 20-30 years, we've been doing virtually everything wrong. Dietary advice has been poor as have views on health and fitness. Anyone who argues this point need only look at the sharp rise in both adult and adolescent obesity levels in this country during this period.
