Protein Requirement

I've been working on my abdominals for quite some time now. Although I have a six pack starting, I am not getting the muscle structure I desire in the other areas of my body. Is there a chance I could develop these other muscles with a protein supplementation? If so, how much should I use?

I will try to increase my natural protein first and see if I can obtain my goal. If not I will probably use some of the protein supplements and try that in addition to eating more protein. I am a big fan of using natural protein rather than supplements, having said that i dont feel that you shouldnt use them, it all depends on your goals.

Protein is essential for building muscle, so you will need to ensure you get enough if you want to bulk up.

The general rule of thumb is try to consume 2 grams of protein per Kg of bodyweight, so if you weigh 80kg you should be eating 160 grams of protein per day. For more information see our article on eating for musclegain. You could also read our protein article.

I tried to consume my protein

I tried to consume my protein naturally but I must have been doing something wrong. I was gaining weight even though it was protein I was eating. I went with the protein supplementation instead and it's working for me. I feel a lot better too.
