Right diet and workout

My main goal is to lose 15-20 pounds. I have started working out at a local gym beside our place for an hour daily to achieve a full body work out. I know that there are so many diet plans but I'm confused as to which diet plan I should be following to go along with my work out. Please help.

Food plans and diets can be dangerous territory. Avoid any fad or crash diets that promise to lose anything more than 2 lbs per week.
I would advise buying a calorie counting book to work out how much you consume per day, we have one from Collins Gem in the gym which details every food type and many brands. Avoid eating heavily prcessed foods, sugars, sweets, white breads, microwave meals, chocolate. Try and get your food as close to source as possible, cuts of meat, fresh meat/veg/fish, whole weats/breads/pastas.

To lose a 1 lb of fat, you need to burn around 3500 more calories than you consume. Aim to lose no more than 1-2lbs per week as this will lead to longer term results that are easier to maintain.
