Hi guys, I'm Luke and this is my story so far...
After years of excuses, and being told by my doctor that I needed to lose weight, I decided that enough was enough. While I was afraid of what I was getting into, I had to prove to myself that I could make a change and improve my body and my life. I was very afraid of failure.
Being overweight and unfit felt like I was caught in a trap. I was in denial, afraid of hard work and unprepared to change my lifestyle. I was not prepared to commit to change as I didn't want to make sacrifices that I didn't think I would be able to sustain. Gee, how I proved myself wrong.
I completely overhauled my lifestyle. My decision to join the gym alongside the iBodz program wasn't taken lightly. I was aware that when I signed on the dotted line, I was committing to a new life. Once I started, the kilograms began disappearing very quickly. Perhaps because I'm still relatively young, it was a little easier than it could have been (not much though - it was still hard!), and this reinforced my decision.
My biggest challenge was motivation. Motivation to exercise early in the morning, or late at night, the motivation to choose healthy alternatives to eat and generally stick with the program. By simply remembering the way I felt, and comparing it to how I feel now, I was (and still am) able to stay motivated.
I think it's the shallow things. Buying smaller clothes. Being able to go swimming without feeling so self conscious. Seeing photos of you with one 'defined' chin rather than a couple.
Signing up to do fun-runs also helped me to keep motivated. As the distance of the runs increased, so did my fitness level. I'm now training for a half marathon.
I guess it's also important to remember that losing weight and improving your fitness is an everlasting journey of discovery, so embrace it.
I feel like it's only the beginning. I have achieved so much both inside and out. I am enjoying exercise like I never believed I would and clothes shopping doesnt make me feel depressed like it used to! (although I have had about four wardrobe changes, and my wallet is not as forgiving as I may like it to be).
Don't waste your life making excuses like I did. Just give yourself and chance and make a change - even if it's a small one, it's a start. No one expects you to climb Everest. iBodz is a good place to start. I like it because it's flexible and you are always in control. If you just want to start by doing a one or two sessions a week, that's fine. You're able to increase at your own pace and when you're ready to take it to the next level just ask. The guys at iBodz will adjust your plan accordingly - they are really helpful and supportive.
At the moment, iBodz are offering new members the chance to try iBodz Silver membership for free. So there's no excuse to make that change. You need to enter your payment details to be eligible for the trial. However, if you find iBodz isn't for you within the first 28 days, just let the guys know and you won't have to pay anything.
Make sure you enter 'silveronemonth' at checkout to get your free trial.
I hope my story can inspire you to create one of your own. Trust me, you won't have any regrets.
Good luck and here's to getting fit!
Luke
